Uppingham First

Uppingham First is the Community Partnership for Uppingham. The Partnership became a limited company in January 2009. Its Board of 12 is comprised of 7 Business Directors, 3 Third/Voluntary Sector Directors, 1 Rutland County Councillor Director and a Town Councillor Observer. The Board have also co-opted a senior manager from Uppingham School.
Uppingham town centre and its business zones benefit from a unique blend of locally owned retail, service & manufacturing outlets and leading brands. Visitors praise the character of the town's high street and its heritage offer. Private investment in the high street and market place has been significant. The town's outstanding mix of antique, arts, books and creative crafts galleries and shops is now reflected in a new online retailer trail (visit the website to download the map).
The introduction of a five day a week local hopper bus service operated by volunteers has helped footfall, with plans for an extension of the service to support local villages up for debate in 2019. A trial of an Amazon style home delivery service for the housebound using the hopper (HopShop) supported by good neighbour scheme UppWatch is also under consideration. Due to be launched in 2019 is a new online portal for Uppingham set to become the first port of call for virtual visitors to the town and local residents wishing to access online services.
